Client Guidelines

Pedal24 Client Guidelines

Welcome to Pedal24! We are excited to provide you with a platform to easily connect with experienced bike mechanics and a marketplace to buy and sell used bikes. To ensure a smooth, safe, and satisfying experience for all users, please follow the guidelines below.

1. Account Setup

  • Accurate Profile Information: Ensure that your profile information is complete, accurate, and up-to-date. Providing correct contact details and bike information helps mechanics and marketplace users communicate and deliver a better service.
  • Verification Process: Pedal24 may require identity verification to ensure trust and safety on the platform. This process helps maintain transparency and reliability across our community.

2. Posting a Service Request

  • Be Clear and Specific: When requesting a service, provide detailed information about your bike and the specific work you need done. This helps mechanics provide accurate quotes and ensures they arrive prepared.
  • Request Form Details: Be sure to include essential information such as the type of bike, any known issues, and your preferred timeline for the service. The more information you provide, the better the mechanic can assess your needs.
  • Timely Responses: Once a mechanic responds with questions or offers a quote, reply promptly. This helps mechanics schedule their work efficiently and prevents delays in service.
  • Honesty in Requests: Ensure that the description of your bike and the required service is honest and accurate. Providing misleading information can lead to delays or cancellations and negatively affect your standing on the platform.

3. Communication Etiquette

  • Professional and Respectful Interaction: Communicate with mechanics politely and professionally. Clear communication helps ensure a smoother transaction and leads to higher satisfaction on both sides.
  • Platform Messaging: Always use Pedal24’s messaging system for all communications with mechanics. This ensures that Pedal24 can assist if issues arise and helps maintain a record of conversations.

4. Marketplace Usage (Buying and Selling Used Bikes)

Buying Bikes on the Marketplace

  • Review Listings Carefully: When purchasing a bike, read the listing thoroughly to ensure the bike meets your needs. Check all details about the bike’s condition, price, and any additional equipment or accessories included in the sale.
  • Ask Questions: If you have any doubts or need further clarification about the bike’s condition or specifications, feel free to ask the seller questions before making a decision.
  • Secure Payments: Always make payments through Pedal24’s secure payment system. Avoid transferring money directly to sellers outside the platform, as this can result in fraud or misunderstandings.
  • Inspect the Bike: If possible, arrange to inspect the bike before finalizing the purchase. This helps avoid misunderstandings about the bike’s condition or specifications.

Selling Bikes on the Marketplace

  • Accurate Listings: When selling a bike, ensure that your listing is complete, accurate, and honest. Include detailed descriptions of the bike’s condition, brand, size, model, and any defects.
  • Photos: Include clear, well-lit photos of the bike from multiple angles. Providing visual information helps attract buyers and build trust in your listing.
  • Timely Responses to Buyers: Respond to buyer inquiries promptly and politely. Keeping potential buyers informed and answering their questions can help close the sale quickly.
  • Secure Transactions: Use Pedal24’s secure payment system for all sales. Do not accept direct payments from buyers outside the platform, as this may violate Pedal24’s policies and lead to complications.

5. Payment for Services and Purchases

  • Platform Payments Only: For both bike repairs and marketplace transactions, all payments must be made through Pedal24’s secure payment platform. This ensures a safe transaction process and protects both parties in case of disputes.
  • Avoid Cash Payments: Do not pay mechanics or sellers directly in cash or through external platforms. Payments made outside of Pedal24 are not protected by our dispute resolution process.
  • Transparent Pricing: Mechanics provide upfront quotes based on the information you provide. If additional work or parts are required, the mechanic will notify you in advance before proceeding. Make sure you understand and agree to any extra costs before approving additional work.

6. After-Service or Purchase Feedback

  • Confirm Service Completion: Once the mechanic completes the job, confirm the work through the Pedal24 platform. This triggers payment to the mechanic and closes the service request. If any issues arise, contact the mechanic before closing the request.
  • Leave Feedback: After the service is completed, take a moment to leave a review for the mechanic. Your feedback helps other customers make informed choices and ensures that quality standards are upheld within the Pedal24 community.
  • Rate the Seller: If you’ve purchased a bike through the marketplace, leave feedback about the seller and the transaction. Honest reviews improve the buying and selling experience for the entire community.

7. Cancellations and Rescheduling

  • Customer-Initiated Cancellations: If you need to cancel or reschedule a service, notify the mechanic as early as possible through the Pedal24 platform. Mechanics arrange their schedules based on confirmed bookings, so prompt communication is appreciated.
  • Cancellation Policy: Familiarize yourself with Pedal24’s cancellation policy, which outlines the steps and potential penalties for last-minute cancellations. This helps avoid misunderstandings and protects both mechanics and customers.

8. Dispute Resolution

  • Address Issues Early: If you are dissatisfied with the service or have concerns about a marketplace purchase, address them directly with the mechanic or seller through the platform’s messaging system. Open, respectful communication can often resolve minor misunderstandings.
  • Contact Pedal24 Support: If a dispute cannot be resolved between you and the mechanic or seller, Pedal24’s support team is available to mediate. Provide relevant information such as photos, descriptions, or messages to help resolve the issue fairly.

9. Legal Compliance and Responsibilities

  • Eligibility: Ensure you are legally eligible to hire self-employed individuals for services. Hiring individuals who are not authorized to work can lead to legal complications.
  • Tax Compliance: If you are earning money by selling bikes on Pedal24’s marketplace, you are responsible for declaring your income to the tax authorities. Ensure that your business activities comply with local tax regulations.
  • Prohibited Activities: Both customers and mechanics must avoid engaging in illegal activities, such as offering or accepting undeclared work (“Schwarzarbeit”) or any activity that violates tax laws. All income generated through Pedal24 must be declared to the appropriate tax authorities.

10. Safety and Responsibility

  • Prepare for the Mechanic: Make sure your bike is accessible for the mechanic at the scheduled time. Clear your work area to ensure the mechanic can safely complete the repair.
  • Customer Safety: If a mechanic needs to visit your location, follow safety guidelines. Make sure the space is well-lit and ensure the mechanic has safe access to your property.
  • Bike Safety: If you’re buying a used bike, ensure that the bike is in good working condition before riding it. If in doubt, request a mechanic’s inspection through Pedal24 before finalizing your purchase.

11. Respect for the Environment

  • Eco-Friendly Services: When hiring a mechanic, consider opting for services that involve the use of environmentally friendly products or methods. Pedal24 encourages sustainable practices to minimize environmental impact.
  • Marketplace Sustainability: Buying and selling used bikes on the Pedal24 marketplace contributes to reducing waste and promoting sustainability. Continue to support eco-friendly practices by properly disposing of or recycling bike parts when necessary.

12. Compliance with Pedal24 Policies

  • Adherence to Rules: By using Pedal24, you agree to adhere to all platform policies, including our terms of service and privacy policy. Violation of these policies can result in account suspension or termination.
  • No Off-Platform Transactions: All transactions must be conducted through Pedal24’s secure system. Soliciting or completing jobs outside of the platform is prohibited and can result in account suspension.
  • Integrity: Maintain honesty and transparency in all transactions. Misrepresentation of services, products, or payments will lead to penalties, including potential removal from the platform.

By following these guidelines, you help ensure a smooth, secure, and satisfying experience on Pedal24, whether you’re hiring a mechanic or using the marketplace. We value your participation and are here to support you at every step of your journey with Pedal24.

Our goal is to foster a cycling community that values reliability, eco-consciousness, and genuine passion for biking.
